THE STORY BEHIND THE STORY
Bowling dates all the way back to around 3200 BC, but it was not until 1952 that a machine was invented that set the pins automatically. Bowling has since been a typical American pastime that has grown over the years to become a worldwide sport.
So, it was only natural that Støtvig Hotel chose this as one of its indoor activities.
We thought it only fitting to offer the combination of bowling and one of the most traditional of all American eateries: the diner. The concept dates back to the 1800s, when the first generation of railway cars were discarded and abandoned across the American continent, offering the opportunity to convert the cars into stationary eateries. This is the reason behind the design: an arched roof, oval windows, jukebox, leather booths and special lighting. What better setting for burgers and milkshakes?
