Neither grandma nor great grandma travelled to the Mediterranean or a mountain cabin during the summer holidays. Travelling to the Mediterranean countries on holiday was not ‘invented’ yet and very few people had their own cabin. Instead, they left dad at home in town and took the kids to one of the many beach hotels along the Oslo Fjord. On the weekends, dad took one of the numerous ‘daddy boats’ to visit the rest of the family. Back then, Støtvig Hotel was one of the most popular summer hotels.
